Privacy Policy
Age Check Certification Scheme (ACCS) is an organisation that tests whether age and Identity systems work.
FaceTec is an American age estimation provider.
ACCS is working with FaceTec Inc. (FaceTec) as part of a project to test FaceTec’s age estimation system.
This privacy policy sets out how ACCS and FaceTec uses and protects personal data provided to ACCS and FaceTec for the purposes of providing an estimation of your age. By accepting to this Privacy Notice you agree to ACCS and FaceTec to using your personal data to test this age estimation system.
How It Works
You will be taken to ACCS age estimation page where you will be asked to provide your date of birth and phone number. The system will then take a picture of your face, a ‘selfie’, it will then provide an estimation of your age based solely on the selfie image.
What we collect and why
Personal data is any information that can on its own, or in conjunction with other information, be used to identify an individual. For the fulfilment of the age estimation test we process the following information:
- Data of birth
- Telephone number (Optional)
- Selfie for facial recognition.
FaceTec is hosting the system and your personal data will be used in real-time by their system. FaceTec will retain a minimum amount of personal data as part of a database in order to provide assurance that the age estimation technology is working accurately. The database will be deleted immediately after the conclusion of the project.
Lawful basis for processing:
Under Article 6 of UKGDPR we must have a valid reason for using your personal data, this is referred to as a lawful basis for processing personal data. For the purposes of providing our services we will be relying on the following lawful bases for processing:

Retention
ACCS will retain minimum information as part of a database. This information will only be used for assessing the accuracy of the age estimation system and will be deleted immediately upon the conclusion of this test.
Security
We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect from you.
Whilst FaceTec are an American company they are hosting the age estimation platform. Any personal data you provide will be fed into their system so an age estimation can be undertaken in real-time. The outcome of the age estimation along with your selfie, and DoB will be saved to the FaceTec database for reporting purposes. Once the test has been completed the database will be deleted immediately.
Your rights
The UKGDPR allows individuals control over how their personal data is used and by whom, and whilst we comply stringently to the UKGDPR, it must be made clear that as we will immediately delete all personal data it may not be possible for us to comply with your request for copies of your personal data.
If you are not satisfied with how your personal data is being handled you have the right to raise a complaint with the regulator, please contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.
